Survival stories

SB’s father has broken his spine four times. Until now, they have never talked about it. Wanting to get to know her quiet mountaineer father, SB invites him on a camping trip. Together, they brave a few nights in the bush in winter, facing cold temperatures, 20 hours of darkness, and a generation of silence between them.

Through recorded interviews, shadow puppetry, and campfire storytelling, Lumbar 5, Thoracic 12 tells a Northern father-daughter story about intergenerational divides and a deep need to connect.
